The Legend of Zelda Mega Review Part I: Beginning your quest

I know I already have reviewed The Legend of Zelda, but a legendary game like this that spawn over a dozen sequels must be reviewed in depth. I will write a mini walkthrough of the game and tell you some secrets you should follow before you even enter Level-1.

Here we go:

• Beginning your quest

On the first screen there is just a cave. Enter and take the wooden sword from the old man. Now before you rush to Level-1 there are some things you should do to make your life easier.

Find the hidden heart containers: There are in total 5 hidden heart containers, but at this point link has access to only 3 of them. To find them easily I present you this overworld map divided in sections:

For the first heart, get some bombs by killing a few moblins in screens D5 to D8. Then go to screen L8 and bomb the rocks next to the path that leads above (to screen L7).

The second heart is at screen M3. Get it by bombing the lower right corner of the rocky lump in the middle of the screen.

Finally, for now, heart No3 is under a tree at screen H5. You must buy a candle to get this one so go kill some enemies or go to screen P2 and climb the invisible ladder to P1 to get 100 rupees. Use the candle to burn the tree in the middle of the front row to reveal a ladder that leads to the 3rd heart container.

• Acquiring the white sword

Once you got the 3 hearts climb up to screen K1 to get the white sword. Now your life is easier, but you're not ready yet to go to the 1st Level. Let's get the blue ring first.

• Getting the blue ring

The blue ring is sold by a merchant in screen E4 that is hidden under the 2nd Armos in the back row. He asks for it 250 rupees. Quite expensive really, but not to worry. You'll get the money in no time.

Go to screen L7 and use the candle on the third tree from the left on the bottom row. Tada! 100 rupees here. Now go to screen B6 and burn the first tree of the front row. You got another 100 here. Finally, kill a few enemies and, with the change you have from the candle purchase, get the blue ring. You're now set to go to Level-1 and beat it like a pro!

Go to screen O1 and enter the cave. The old man gives you a letter for the old woman. Take it and show it to one of the old women you find and she will sell you potions that restore your hearts.
