Review #4: The Simpsons-Bart vs the World

The Simpsons box art

Another relaxing Saturday afternoon, hanging at home, watching TV. While zapping I stumbled upon the Simpsons and thought "Hey, how about some Bart vs the World?".
So I popped the cart in the NES and started playing.

This game was not one of my favorites. Just your standard side-scrolling platformed, with a few levels and repetitive music. The really enjoyable part is Bartman and the skate-boarding on the China Great Wall. The rest of the levels are difficult and frustrating.

Oh, but I started to mumble without letting you know the story behind it. So the Simpsons win some kind of Krusty Competition and they get to go to Chine, North Pole, Egypt and Hollywood (so it's not vs the World, it's vs some places). Mr Burns stages the competition so the Simpsons win and he gets rid of them forever. So it's up to you to help the Simpsons tour "the World" and bring them back safely to Springfield (which I think it's located on Springfield, Illinois-I'm not from the States but according to the zoom in couch gag it appears to be there).

The graphics are a little dull and undercolored, the music is, surprise-surprise, the Simpsons theme on and infinite loop and the game overall is a wee little bit better than "Bart vs the Space Mutants", so it's not that good.

On the bright side it has many mini games that are very nice and you'll play them over and over again.

Conclusion: the game is below decent, has nice mini-games and it'll keep you a few days on-screen. On rarity terms it's not that rare (it's rated C-Uncommon on the NES rarity list) and you can find it on eBay with box and manual for about 25-30$.
